We enjoy afternoon tea and meet the Captain at the welcome reception

HIGH WINDS AND HEAVY SEAS

28 March 2025

The heavy seas and high winds continued throughout the day, making any open deck activity impossible as we headed south toward Saint Marteen, in the Eastern Caribbean.

Our forward cabin, 6001, experienced significant pitching, accompanied by loud bangs and shudders as the ship ploughed into large waves. Seasick bags were placed in every elevator lobby, but fortunately, we avoided seasickness.

We enjoyed room service breakfast this morning.   The standard room service menu has no breakfast items, but you will find the available selections on a hang tag menu provided with your turn-down service.

POOL GRILL LUNCH

For lunch, we went to the Pool Grill and ordered the Ahi Tuna filet and a beef burger, which were both delicious.

Ahi Tuna Filet is a standard menu item at the Pool Grill

AFTERNOON TEA

Daily at 4 PM, Afternoon Tea is served in the Wintergarden. It features scones with clotted cream, a wide variety of teas, finger sandwiches, and pastries, which change daily.  Check out the menus HERE

VIKING WELCOME RECEPTION

The welcome reception in the Star Theater was at 9 PM. The doors were scheduled to open at 8:30, but when we arrived at 8:20, the theater was already open, and Cruise Director Aaron and Shorex Manager Bradley Salt greeted us.

The Viking Band, with Resident Vocalists Elsa and Arlando, entertained the audience until 9 PM, when Cruise Director Aaron entered the theatre and sang a beautiful rendition of “Stars” from Les Miserable.

Aaron Syfert, Cruise Director

The Master of the Mars, Captain Richard Blundell, took the stage and after some brief remarks was joined by his senior officers who introduced themselves.

After the senior officers left the stage, the Viking Vocalists performed a couple of songs giving us a preview of their talent that we will be looking forward to for the rest of the cruise.

Thanks for sharing another cruise. We always enjoy following. We have done the Viking Rhine River and are considering an ocean cruise with them so this is nice to follow.
    Safe travels.
