COFFEE CHAT
Coffee Chat this morning featured three Managers from the Hotel Department that are World Cruise veterans and always popular with the passengers.
- Dining Room Maitre ‘D: Presty
- Pinnacle Grill Manager: Tina
- Canaletto Maitre ‘D: Ronald
Tina has been with Holland America for over 10 years and got her start as a waitress in the Pinnacle Grill. She broke into management when the Pinnacle Grill manager didn’t arrive as planned and she filled in on no notice – and did a fabulous job. At first the promotion was temporary, but after time, she was awarded the spot permanently.
Ronald is the Canaletto Maitre ‘D as well as the Lido Manager. He has been with HAL for 25 years. He has been doing the World Cruise since 2011.
Presty has been on the Amsterdam Grand Voyages for 13 years. Over the past year he was assigned to the two new ships: Konningsdam and Nieuw Statendam, to help get them started and set the standard of excellence.
SHORE EXCURSION BRIEFING
KNITTING UPDATE
Judy knit a series of skinny scarves during the first month of the cruise. She was attracted to the yarns because of the colorway names: Falklands (pinks & greens), Glacier (blues & whites), Penguin (blacks, grays & whites), and Drake Passage (grays, blues & pinks). Ben, Grahame and Michael enjoyed modelling them by the pool this afternoon.
SCENIC CRUISING
Our scenic cruising continued today as we sailed up the Sarmiento Channel. Beautiful green mountains, with the occasional volcano off in the distance lined our route.
Tonight’s entertainer was the Mentalist, Alan Chamo, who presented his show called “Mind Hacker” spelled “M1ND H4CK3R”. He invited audience members onstage throughout as he amazed the crowd with a series of tricks and predictions.

Thanks for the photos and information on Tina, Ronald, and Presty. We knew Tina back when she was a waitress in the Pinnacle and are so glad she has succeeded as Manager. Knew Presty when he was one of the Assistant Dining Managers on the Amsterdam and thought he was so personable. Ronald as well. Hope to see them all again on a future Amsterdam cruise – hopefully on the World some day.
They are a wonderful team! Thanks for following
