Day 30
Antarctica Day 4
SUPER FOG
Thick fog greeted us this morning as we crawled toward Hope Bay for our final day of Antarctic Cruising. Commentary was supposed to commence at 7 AM, but an announcement was made that due to the poor visibility, commentary was postponed pending better weather.
At 8:30 AM, Capt Mercer came on the PA and told us that the visibility was expected to be poor the entire day and he was cancelling our final day of scenic cruising and we would be heading toward Drake Passage and Ushuaia.
I walked around the empty decks and only saw a few other people who ventured out this cold, wet morning.

ICEBERGS!
Early this evening we passed by two large icebergs. The Captain gave us 20 minutes notice so we could gather our cameras and head to an open deck. As this was during early dinner, the crowds on deck were much smaller than I expected. By now, the fog had lifted, and the icebergs made a nice contrast with the blue sky in the background.

SUPER SUNDAY
The main event this evening is Superbowl LIV which was scheduled for 7:30 PM in the Main Stage. We are two hours ahead of EST, kickoff is expected for 8:30 PM.
In the days leading up to the Superbowl, an all you can drink package was offered with reserved seating and special game favors for $55 per person.

Earlier in the day, I checked out the theater as they were setting up and it looks like they sold about 20 tables. In the center of the Main Stage seating, a U-shaped bar was set up to provide speedy service to everyone watching the game.

We went to dinner in the Main Dining Room for main seating finishing up around 9 PM. The game was halfway thru the first quarter when we arrived. While most of the seats on Deck 4 were occupied, we found a few vacant seats in the back corner that had an unobstructed view of the screen. There were plenty of seats available in the balcony.

A buffet line was set up at both the Port and Starboard entrances to the Main Stage on Deck 4 with a selection of:
- San Francisco Lobster Rolls
- Potato Chips
- Boston Cream Filled Doughnuts
- Grilled Vegetable Tortilla Wrap
- Chips and Salsa

I understand the San Francisco Lobster rolls, but I thought they would have had Kansas City Barbeque or something similar to represent Kansas City. Maybe they assumed that the Patriots would be playing again and that’s why they had Boston Cream Filled Donuts.
As the game progressed, a team of waiters circulated serving snacks:
- Chicken Wings
- Burritos
- Mac and Cheese Balls

The game was also being shown in the Sports Bar, which was full. There weren’t any snacks, favors or food service there.
