There is no mistaking we are at sea as the ship continues southward, ploughing thru heavy seas, with significant motion. Fortunately, Judy and I are not prone to seasickness. Aside from occasionally bumping into walls as we move around, the ship’s movement doesn’t affect us very much.
COFFEE CHAT
David Copperfield was the guest at this morning’s Coffee Chat He shared some stories about his early days working with Tracy Allman and recounted a time when Paul McCartney bought him a beer. He is working exclusively on cruise ships and no longer works any shore venues.
Our second Cruise Critic Meet & Greet was at 10 AM today in the Crow’s Nest. The crowd was much smaller today, maybe ¼ of the original turnout earlier in the month.
Ben Sack, the Artist in Residence on the 2018 World Cruise, was spotted around the ship – we miss his drawing class that was always popular on that cruise.

BLACK AND WHITE NIGHT
This evening was the Black and White themed Gala event. I can’t talk about the early seating crowd, but the compliance with the dress code theme after 8 PM was very high – at least 75% by my estimate.
Our table was hosted by Victor, an Officer from the Engineering Department. He is from the Netherlands and has been with Holland America for 4 years. He enjoys working in the Technical departments as opposed to the Deck departments. Victor was a wonderful host and we enjoyed our time with him very much.
The HAL singers and dancers were scheduled to perform their show “Dance”, but due to the heavy seas and deck motion the show was canceled.
We headed up to the Crow’s Nest to enjoy some drinks and music before turning in for the evening.
PILLOW GIFTS
Back in the cabin, we discovered our 3rd and 4th “pillow gifts” for the cruise: An Antarctica Cruising Guide by on board lecturer Peter Carey and a Fleece Set, consisting of gloves, knit cap and a blanket inside a cloth bag. HERE is a link to the reference page with the other gifts.
